NPA Applauds MARAN on a Seamless Change of Leadership

FOLLOWING a smooth and orderly electoral process, the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) received accolades from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for its peaceful and seamless leadership transition.

NPA’s General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Mr. Ikechukwu Chika Onyemekara, made the observation when the newly elected Executive members paid a courtesy visit to the Agency.

In his remarks, the image maker praised the group’s strong administration and transparent electoral process, citing them as reflections of unity, progress, and stability.

He noted that while many organizations face division due to caretaker committees seeking to extend their tenure, MARAN successfully avoided these issues through a peaceful and credible election

He applauded the association for honoring its past leaders, calling the gesture a sign of respect for institutional strength and continuity

During the meeting, President Oluyinka Onigbinde and his new Executive were urged to prioritise stakeholder engagement to advance Nigeria’s maritime sector.

thanked the NPA for its longstanding support in his address and reaffirmed MARAN’s commitment to collaborating on future initiatives.

MARAN’s election was held on 7th of May, 2026, in Apapa, Lagos.
