Lekki Port Secures Major HMM-ONE Trade Connectivity

Lekki Port received the maiden call of the HMM–ONE Alliance service at the weekend, boosting its ties to global shipping routes and its role in international trade, the Spynews learnt.

Following the launch of the Mediterranean West Africa Service (MA2)—a joint container route operated by Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Ocean Network Express (ONE)—this historic vessel call, it was gathered, extends both global carriers’ reach to Lekki Port via a shared network linking key European and West African ports.

The MA2 service is expected to provide greater opportunities for Nigerian importers and exporters by strengthening connectivity with major international markets, improving cargo movement and supporting more efficient trade across Europe and West Africa.

It also reinforces ongoing efforts to enhance Nigeria’s maritime competitiveness, increase direct vessel calls and facilitate the seamless movement of cargo through modern port infrastructure.

The Managing Director of Lekki Port, Wang Qiang, said the arrival of the HMM-ONE alliance service underscores the port’s growing reputation as a strategic hub capable of supporting larger cargo volumes and more efficient supply chains.
