Tension in Osun as Masked Gunmen Kill Adeleke’s Ally ‘Emir’ at Peace Meeting

Olalekan Oyeyemi, an ally of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke popularly known as Emir, was shot dead in Ile-Ife during a clash between rival motor park factions.

It was gathered that he had been standing trial for terrorism and was on the police wanted list for murder, had gone to Ile-Ife for a peace meeting with the group loyal to Nurudeen Alowonle(Chairman of NURTW) led by Chairman of Mini-bus identified as Sobi at Mayfair.

It was learnt that during the meeting, the Alowonle group learnt that the governor would proscribe NURTW and make Emir the chairman of the park.

This information infuriated the group and men of Alowonle mobilised to the scene, which led to fracas and shooting of Emir.

A source said: “Emir was holding a meeting with the leadership of public transport known as Korope. Emir had wanted to override Alowonle since Alowonle was appointed by Adeleke in 2022.

“The bitterness between them increased after Adeleke won his second term. Emir had been pushing to become the Park Manager and he was about to succeed when he was killed.”

Following Emir’s murder, his gang members stormed his base at Balogun Agoro Area of Osogbo, to protest his killing which led to tension.

Adeleke, in a statement through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, condemned the killing of Emir and called for the arrest of perpetrators.

The Governor has proscribed NURTW, announcing the Park Management System in the state.
