Jonathan visits Tinubu in Aso Rock Presidential Villa

Former President Goodluck Jonathan visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja today, as part of ongoing high-level consultations on regional and global matters.
The meeting took place around 4 p.m. at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, was confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared photographs of the encounter on his X account.
Jonathan’s visit follows a similar engagement in November 2025, shortly after his evacuation from Bissau during a political crisis. At the time, he was leading a West African Elders Forum election observation mission when a coup led by Brigadier-General Dinis Incanha resulted in the arrest of President Umaro Sissoco Embaló.
Following that incident, Jonathan urged ECOWAS leaders to ensure the release of opposition candidate Fernando Dias da Costa and the announcement of election results.
While details of Wednesday’s closed-door meeting remain undisclosed, the engagement underscores Jonathan’s continued role in regional diplomacy and Nigeria’s broader involvement in West African political affairs.
