NAGAFF Tasks New Leadership of MARAN on Professionalism

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), has congratulated the new leadership of the  Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN), headed by its President, Olayinka Onigbinde and commend the association for its continued commitment to professionalism and service to the nation.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new Executive Council of the Association in Lagos TODAY, the President of NAGAFF, High Chief Tochukwu Emmanuel Ezisi said, the theme of the inauguration, “Upholding Ethical Journalism for Maritime Development,” is both timely and consequential.

The theme of the event, he said,  “underscores the indispensable role of responsible journalism in shaping the trajectory of our maritime sector, which remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic aspirations.”

The NAGAFF President, emphasised that “ethical journalism is a stabilizing force in any developing sector. In the maritime domain, he said,  it ensures transparency in port operations; accountability among regulatory and operational institutions; balanced reporting that strengthens investor confidence; constructive scrutiny that promotes reforms  an d public trust in maritime governance

In essence, chief Ezisi said, “ethical journalism is not merely a professional obligation; it is a national imperative. It is a vital instrument for maritime growth, policy refinement, and institutional credibility.”

Speaking on the huge responsibility facing the the Executive members, the NAGAFF President said,  “the expectations of the industry are high. The maritime community looks to MARAN for leadership in shaping narratives that reflect truth, fairness, and national interest.

In his address, Chief Ezisi outlined some of the key priorities that are expected to guide the tenure of the next executive council.

 

 

“I reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting MARAN whenever the need arises. Our association recognizes the critical role of the media in shaping public perception and influencing policy direction. We therefore stand ready to collaborate in areas of training, information sharing, research, and advocacy.

A strong and ethical MARAN, the NAGAFF President said, “is an asset to the entire maritime community. Your work amplifies the collective voice of stakeholders and ensures that the public receives accurate and responsible reporting.”

He urged the new leadership of MARAN to lead with “honour, diligence, and a deep sense of responsibility. The maritime sector is evolving, and the nation expects MARAN to remain a beacon of professionalism and integrity.

“Let your leadership reflect the values of truth, fairness, and national service. Let your reporting contribute to the strengthening of institutions and the advancement of maritime development. And let your tenure be marked by unity, innovation, and excellence,” Chief Ezisi said.
