The industry took note yet again on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the prestigious Shoregate Hotel in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, during the 21st edition of the TransQuest Symposium and Award Ceremony. Before a room packed with maritime heavyweights, policymakers, and industry veterans, Dauda was honoured with the coveted Excellence Award for Outstanding Media Practitioner – Maritime.

Presenting the award, the legendary maritime analyst and media veteran, Elder Asu Beks (the godfather), did not mince words. He noted that the honour was a direct validation of Dauda’s deep industry knowledge, profound understanding, and undisputed media leadership in the maritime space.

The organizers emphasised that the laurel honours a journalist driven by deep professional integrity, factual accuracy, and ethical rigour—a professional who has systematically leveraged his platform at The Nation Newspaper to drive meaningful social impact and protect the public interest.

For those who have followed the trajectory of Nigerian journalism, this latest milestone is neither a fluke nor an overnight sensation. It is simply the continuation of a long, decorated legacy of excellence. Dauda is a multi-award-winning veteran whose trophy cabinet tells the story of an unyielding commitment to the craft.

His journey into the upper echelons of media excellence became glaringly undeniable exactly twenty years ago. In 2006, Dauda clinched the prestigious Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) as the Agriculture Reporter of the Year at a grand ceremony in Ilorin, Kwara State. That very same year, his unbiased, gritty investigations also earned him the Lagos State Agriculture Reporter of the Year award in Ikeja.

As the years rolled by, Dauda seamlessly transitioned his investigative sharpness into the maritime and broader business sectors, proving that true journalistic excellence knows no bounds. In 2014, at an elaborate national gathering in Owerri, Imo State, he walked away with the highly competitive NMMA Maritime Journalist of the Year award.

Fast forward to 2022, during the historic 30th edition of the Nigeria Media Merit Awards, his brilliant economic reportage was recognised once again as he bagged the Business Reporter of the Year Award.
