By Temitope Adebiyi
The Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) -acclaimed photographer Paul Erakhifu also known as ‘TEXAS’ is dead.
The Management and staff of the Authority, his family, friends and church members have been thrown into mourning following his sudden death.
He reportedly slumped and died yesterday, Friday, May 1.
Findings revealed that he passed on after attending a departmental strategic meeting of the agency and later participated in an excursion organised in Lagos.
‘Texas’, according to his colleagues in the NPA, was a gifted cameraman, master lensman, outstanding recorder, elite visual documentarian and a premier image-maker before his death.
No wonder, they said, it was very easy for him to work frequently with high-profile individuals within the Board and Management of NPA for several years without any negative report
NPA management, members of staff and stakeholders in the maritime industry will remember him for his excellent and saturated images capturing in Nigeria and abroad.
As someone many people traveled and worked closely with for over two decades, ‘Texas’ was described as a fantastic friend and colleagues; a good Christian and lover of his wife and family; a trail blazer, visionary and icon.
His death remains a painful loss not only to the board and management of NPA but also to his colleagues, family and friends and stakeholders in the maritime industry.
